Anthony Metivier, PhD
After completing a Mercator Guest Professor Grant for the Art History department at Die Universität des Saarlandes in Germany, I am now writing a book based on the project. For the purposes of the grant, the project was called "Elective Affinities: Studien zu filmischen Adaptionen von Romanen und Erzählungen mit Kunstbezug." The tentative title of the book is Elective Affinities: Paintings on the Page and on the Screen.
Script Castle is a developing video series of the lectures I gave at Uni Saarland. I am making them for my students and for anyone else who might like to view them.
My recent publications include "Scaling Michelangelo" in Media Fields Journal, “Cryptomnesia or Cryptomancy? Subconscious Adaptations of 9/11” in The Theme of Cultural Adaptation in American History, Literature, and Film: Cases When the Discourse Changed, “La Philosofía seriada de Ian Brady en The Gates of Janus,” in Nerter, “Autologue: Poetics of the Vanity Plate” in Semiophagy: Journal of Pataphysics and Existential Semiotics, and “Sleight of Mouth” in Le Panoptique. I hold degrees in English Literature and Humanities from York University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and an MA in Media and Communications from the European Graduate School in Saas-Fee, Switzerland.
