In each of my courses, I focus on the ways that popular films function in terms of narrative and image patterning. I teach film history, adaptation studies, genre and special topics such as Canadian film and contemporary representations of friendship. Each course also stresses how popular cinema reveals the characteristics of modernity that bind many levels of globalized contemporary culture, often with ancient implications.
